What this is

A passport photo tool that runs inside your browser. You add a photo, it finds the face, replaces the background, crops to the exact rule your country publishes, and tells you what would get the photo rejected. Then it gives you the file and a print sheet.

It is free, there is no account, and the photo is never sent anywhere. That last part is not a policy we promise to keep. It is how the software is built: the models run in your tab, and there is no upload endpoint to send a photo to.

Where the numbers come from

Every country and document has a template file listing the print size, the head height range, the eye line range, the digital pixel and file size limits, the background colour and the rules on glasses, expression and head coverings.

Each template records where its numbers came from and when we last checked. A template that cites the issuing authority is marked as an official source. One that relies on a reputable secondary source says so on the page. A template we could not verify is marked as unverified, and the page tells you to check before you submit rather than pretending to be sure.

We do not publish a field without a source. If a country stops publishing a number, the field disappears from the page rather than being guessed at.

What we cannot do

We cannot promise your photo will be accepted. We measure what a computer can measure: size, head height, eye line, tilt, sharpness, exposure, background evenness. A reviewer also judges things we cannot, such as whether your expression is neutral enough or whether a head covering qualifies for an exemption.

We also cannot see rule changes on the day they happen. Every page carries the date we last reviewed it, so you can judge how fresh it is.

The site is operated by OWL APP LTD, registered in United Kingdom under number 16945604. Corrections and source suggestions are welcome and are usually the fastest way to improve a page.
